You Can Be Honest With God
Many of us avoid prayer (conversations with God) because we believe He’s judging us when the truth is your desire to pray is an indication that God is initiating a love relationship with you. Remember we love Him because He first loved us. Just as God called out to Adam, He’s calling out to you. Scripture tells us that God desires a personal relationship with us. With you, His beloved.
Are you reluctant because you don’t know where to start or what to say?Holy Spirit provides concession for an honest heart (Romans 8:26-27).
“It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without heart.” — C. H. Spurgeon
Maybe guilt or shame as a result of unconfessed sin is impeding your time with God. He already knows, He’s waiting for you. Trust Him. Get honest with Him confess and move on (Psalm 32:3-5).
“A true prayer is an inventory of needs, a catalog of necessities, an exposure of secret wounds, a revelation of hidden poverty.” – C. H. Spurgeon.
Possibly you’re in some sort of distress, burdened by grief, or sickness (body and mind), don’t let the discouragement of darkness usher you into despair. As daughters of The Most High King, there’s a place for honesty in our suffering (Psalm 88, Psalm 13, all of Lamentations). Lament is a bold and reverent act of faith and demonstration of your hope in God in the midst of your sorrows.
“True prayer, not just mindless, half-hearted petitions, it is what digs the well God wants to fill with faith.” C.H. Spurgeon
Genuine prayer changes our life and spurs our desire to pray. The more we pray, the more we’ll want to pray
In my distress I called to the LORD, and He answered and set me free. - Psalm 118:5
There’s A Blessing On The Other Side of This Brokenness
“The word ‘brokenness’ does not normally bring to mind positive, happy images. We think of broken hearts, broken relationships, broken toys, and broken promises. But the Holy Scriptures make it clear that God’s thoughts and His ways are higher than our thoughts and ways. Brokenness, in God’s economy, is a necessary prerequisite to the love, joy, peace, and fellowship with our Creator that he deeply desires for us.” - Yonggi Cho and Wayde Goodall, Prayer: Key to Revival (Savage, Minnesota, USA Broadstreet Publishing, 2019)
In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. Psalm 18:6
The product of collective prayer is unity, humility, thanksgiving, intercession and best of all discovering the will of God for our lives. When we’re knitted together in prayer we’re encouragers to the burdened and uplifters to the sullen.
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. - James 5:15-16
LORD, Help me to be still before you. Lead me to a greater vision of who you are, and in so doing, may I see myself—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Grant me the courage to follow you, to be faithful to become the unique person you have created me to be. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Hey, Sis! How’s Your Heart?
What if I let go of the need to say something profound? To be admired, earn likes, retweets, go viral? What if I prayed to His heart only and not the ears of man? Created only what He says create, say only what He says to say? What if I, unashamed shared my struggles and how the Lord was forever beside me in the darkest time of my life. How He listened, comforted, healed and redeemed me? How he still heals, me daily? What if I wrote only the things that I felt Holy Spirit leading me to write? The type of things that point others who’re hurting, broken-hearted and bewildered; feeling lost, hopeless, afraid and alone… towards the Light. Towards Him, the One True God, the Giver of Hope? (John 5:19). ❤️
Prayerfully, this is that. xo
